Description

• Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct resident-centered activities for the facility.
  
• Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations, as well as professional standards.
  
• Ensure effective communication between employees at all levels, residents, families, support personnel, government agencies, and the public to meet the needs of residents and the community.
  
• Participate in community planning related to the facility's interests and resident needs.
  
• Assist in reviewing and developing correction plans for activity deficiencies noted during surveys and provide reports to the Administrator.
  
• Participate in regular meetings including staff, department heads, quality improvement, safety, marketing, and resident/family councils.
  
• Help develop and implement plans to address quality deficiencies identified during reviews.
  
• Participate in discharge planning, develop, and implement activity care plans and resident assessments.
  
• Arrange transportation for residents for outings, appointments, or discharges.
  
• Create a monthly activity schedule including outings, group activities, and in-room activities for residents with limited mobility.
  
• Encourage residents to engage in self-initiated activities such as hobbies and crafts; provide materials including Braille or audio books as needed.
  
• Ensure all activity notes are detailed, descriptive, and reflect the resident's response to services.
  
• Supervise and manage activity staff.
  
• Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, with preferable experience in a long-term care setting, and activity director certification.
  
• Require physical abilities such as standing, walking, lifting, and sensory functions, with a work environment characterized by low to moderate noise levels.
