Centerpoint Medical Center is part of HCA Midwest Health, a network of hospitals in the Kansas City and surrounding areas. Our campus includes the medical center itself and a medical office building/outpatient services center connected to the hospital (on the west side of the hospital).

RN either does total patient care or works with a tech (takes less pts when total pt care) charge nurses don t take pts to be a resource to staff in addition to their responsibilitiesType of equipment : Neurons (for vital signs) Glucometer, Alaris pumpsDocumentation system: MeditechScheduling requirements: 3 -12 hours shifts per week. 3 weekend shifts in our 4 week scheduleFloating policy: will float to like units that our staff float to and will float before our own staffPatient Experience requirements: Do bedside shift report every shift, every pt. Not in the hall or at the door but in the room and include the pt. Use communication boards in the room and update and write on every shift. Has hourly rounding on their as well as PRN meds. RN responsible for keeping times updated for pt. Safety is very important to us and most of our pts are high fall risk and require a bed alarm. Even when pt s visitors/families are in the room it is our expectation that we have the bed alarm on. Patients not to be left unattended in the bathroom.Hospital Specifics-Certifications: BLS required, ACLS is preferredHiring profileRequested Skill Set: We primarily take care of med/surg patients with oncology as well. Most of our oncology patients are here for symptom management. Get more general surgery patients.Common diagnosis: COPD, Pneumonia, Generalized pain, cellulitis, N/V, acute renal failure, pancreatitis, etc.We also take care of end of life care patients/hospice. Core staff will take care of hospice patients. Must have: Advanced skills needed: Procedures performed on unit: patients have IV s, PICC s, NG s at times, occasionally PCA s, peg tubes/feedings at times, foley care/insertion, purewicks Certifications Required: BLS Dress Code: (Required uniform) RN s are required to wear dark gray scrubs. Pants can be black or dark gray Unit Guidelines/Policies: Please attach unit specific policies and guidelines.We start each shift with a huddle. 2-3minutes at the beginning so expectation is all staff are present and ready to attend huddle at 645/1845.Awards/Recognition: Please include anything that you would like prospective candidates to be aware of, such as, links to videos that feature the department, outstanding department/team awards.This unit is consistently recognized for the team work on both shifts. Positive atmosphere, willing to work hard and be great co-workerAny additional information that would entice a worker to select your unit for their assignment: Consider items such as new equipment or technology, tenure and experience of staff, schedule options, etc.Experienced charge nurses that are a huge resource/asset to the unit, Experienced staff all the way down to newer staff.
