Job Description As the Kansas City VA Medical Center continues
to grow, we are excited to welcome a motivated Dermatologist to our

served our country The following duties are required of the
position; they include, but are not limited to: Provide diagnosis
and treatment of adult patients presenting with dermatological
diseases. Perform dermatological procedures such as biopsies, skin
excisions, cryotherapy, photodynamic therapy, and intralesional
injections. Provide evidence-based, comprehensive care in an
outpatient clinical setting and provide consultation services in an
inpatient setting or emergent need. Provide telephone and e-consult
consultations. Perform a physical examination, review patient's
medical data and order routine diagnostic imaging studies and labs
when indicated. Document observation, assessments, and changes in
patient's condition; collaborating with health team members to
facilitate positive patient care outcomes. Provide telehealth care
via different modalities. Work collaboratively with other
specialties. Follow VA directives and policies and KCVA Medical
Staff Bylaws. Provide direct clinical supervision of advance
practice nurses, physician assistants, clinical trainees, and other
staff as appropriate. Actively involved in the education of other
providers, staff, residents, and medical students. Establish
professional working relationships with other clinical service
providers within the medical center and outlying clinics. This
position potentially requires flexibility in schedule and
assignments, as this is a 24/7 hospital and is an essential
function of the position. Some positions require rotation of tours
or indefinite work on non-administrative tours as established by
the immediate supervisor or designee. Other duties may be assigned
as needed by the Dermatology Section Chief to whom this position

VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System
(FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1)
Social Security benefits, 2) FERS-RAE basic benefits (pension), and
3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan How is the
pension funded? VA employees automatically contribute 4.4% of their
salary each pay period and the VA contributes 12.2% of the
employee’s salary each pay period for a total annual contribution
percentage equal to 16.6% of the employee’s salary Similar to the
401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the
TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each
year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service.
For calendar year 2025, employees under the age of 50 may
contribute up to $23,500, while those over age 50 are eligible to
make catch-up contributions that allow them to defer up to $31,000.
The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic
contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching
contributions , depending on the amount of the employee
contribution For retired military personnel, these benefits are in
addition to full monthly retirement pay or pension In addition to
FERS, VA provides health care insurance coverage for retired
personnel Disability Retirement Employees are vested in a federal
