We continue to grow to meet the needs of long-term individual investors.The Legal Division at Edward Jones is looking to add a Technology Solutions Principal to its newly established Legal Forensics team, designed to support the firm's initiatives to enhance analytic capabilities and data-driven insights. The Legal Technology Solutions Principal will play integral role in building and leading the Division's strategy for leveraging technical solutions to fulfill various data and analytics needs. By applying technology and data analytics expertise, this team member will contribute significant enhancements to the firm's legal insights, strategy, and processes. Specifically, the Legal Technology Solutions Principal will support response to complex data requests and inquiries from external parties, as well as design and lead execution of solutions that enable more efficient response to legal data and analytics needs. The Legal Technology Solutions Principal will partner with associates in the Legal and Technology Divisions to build relationships and align strategies that ensure data and analytic needs are identified and addressed in a through and timely manner. Legal colleagues and business partners will also rely on the Legal Solutions Specialist to provide thought leadership on technical issues, make recommendations and be part of the solution to identified issues.
Candidates should be highly motivated and knowledgeable about the industry and the firm. The position requires strong collaboration, an aptitude for continual learning, demonstration of intellectual curiosity by asking questions and connecting work across multiple initiatives, ability to identify and mitigate risks in new and evolving technology issues, and an ability to influence firm leaders.
Key Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, the associate will be responsible for:

  • Analyzing and identifying opportunities to address technical challenges to current technologies, systems and data structures needed to fulfill various data and analytics needs within the Legal Division
  • Leading brainstorming sessions to develop potential solutions for legal and business needs
  • Developing strategic and tactical support for solutions to address technical challenges in gathering, producing and analyzing data
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance legal data production processes, systems, and tools while ensuring there are sufficient controls and security in place
  • Gathering, synthesizing, and prioritizing requirements to produce formal solutions requirements
  • Serving as the primary liaison between the Technology and Legal Divisions about legal solution needs, fielding communication, escalating issues and allocating resources as necessary
  • Representing the firm with external business partners to ensure strategic alignment and delivery of commitments and key milestones
  • Supporting attorneys and legal professionals in their partnership with business areas by providing technical perspective on data and analytics issues
  • Actively participating in technical strategies and decisions across the firm that affect the Legal Division's needs and making technical recommendations to senior peers
  • Empowering business leaders to make informed decisions by providing technical and strategic support and guidance
  • Identifying risk and consulting with subject matter experts to ensure project objectives are met, account for possible project challenges on constraints including risks, time, resources and scope
  • Define clear goals for all aspects of a project and manage their proper execution

      • Bachelor's degree; advanced degree preferred
      • Minimum 10 years of experience across multiple technology areas, with at least 4 years of experience supporting data and analytics needs
      • Proven ability to regularly spot and analyze issues while formulating a viable recommendation when dealing with issues of moderate complexity
      • Strong ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships and work professionally in a collaborative manner both internally and externally with others on all levels, as well as vendors
      • Demonstrated ability to shift between various topics and apply strategic thinking to identify dependencies and make connections between different efforts
      • Proficient in problem solving through root cause analysis using industry standard tools.
      • Strong understanding of project management concepts.
      • Ability to design and develop technology solutions to support Division business strategies.
      • Ability to solve technical challenges in critical situations that require immediate resolution
