Job DescriptionThe Volunteer Coordinator has overall
responsibility for the Agencys Volunteer Program. Volunteers must
be used in day-to-day administrative and/or direct patient care
roles that meets the needs of the patient and family/care givers.
The VC is responsible for recruiting, training, retaining and
supervising volunteers.Essential FunctionsMaintains documentation
that demonstrates viable and ongoing efforts to recruit and retain
volunteers.Provides training and orientation that is consistent
with hospice industry standards and compliance with all local,
state and federal laws. Maintains a written description of
in-service training provided during the previous 12 months.Assesses
and maintains documentation of volunteers skills and
competencies.Provides guidance related specifically to individual
responsibilities.Maintains documentation of the cost savings
achieved through the use of volunteers including identification of
each position occupied by a volunteer; work time spent by
volunteers occupying those positions; estimating the dollar cost
the Agency would have incurred if paid employees occupied the
position.Ensured volunteer provide day-to-day administrative and/or
direct patient care services in an amount that at minimum, equals
5% of the total patient care hours of all paid hospice employees
and contact staff. Ensures volunteers document to prove the value
of work being done for patients and families.Participates in the
care planning process; document on the Plan of Care (POC) for all
patients receiving volunteer services; reviews and document on the
individualized POC as frequently as the patients condition requires
but no less frequently than every 15 days.Collaboratively develops
and maintains policies specific to the volunteer program.Ensures
volunteers are aware of and in agreement with their duties and
responsibilities; who to report to if they need assistance and
instructions regarding performance of their duties and
responsibilities.Education: High School Graduate, Graduate of an
accredited college/university is preferred.Experience: Experience
in recruitment and management of hospice volunteers
preferred.Skills: Ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationships with Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) and the
community.Environmental and Working Conditions: Primarily office
environment; occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions;
noise level usually moderate. Occasional travel require
